Every trip we take to Walt Disney World brings new and different surprises. Covering the area roughly the size of San Francisco, it’s not surprising that you discover new things to do on return trips. After 7 trips. I’m still finding new things I didn’t know you could do at Walt Disney World. For anyone taking their first trip, a little research will help you discover a wealth of acitivites you didn’t know you could do on your holiday. Here is my list of 5 activities you may not realise are on offer at Disney.
Walt Disney World is home to 4 golf courses, which are used for PGA tournaments. The best part is these courses are open for Disney guests to book tee times during their stay. Golf instruction, Getaway packages and Junior Golf camps are also offered, perfect for enthusiasts of any age. While golf fanatics will want to plan ahead and bring their own clubs, Disney also offer club hire for those who have opted for an impromptu round. For more information, or to book a tee time, check out their dedicated website here.
One thing I didn’t know you could do at Disney during our first few trips was treat myself to a pamper session. Ther are two full Spas at Walt Disney World, at the Grand Floridian and Saratoga Springs. Many Deluxe Resort Hotels also include a massage centre, offering a select range of treatments. Being able to take some time out for a pamper in the middle of a hectic holiday is the perfect way to get some ‘me’ time. For spa menus and reservation enquiries, check out the Walt Disney World website.
A great alternative activite to take some time out from the Theme Parks, there are 2 mini golf courses within Walt Disney World. They both offer a great deal of fun, and entrance is included with your Ultimate Ticket! You’ll find Winter Summerland mini golf beside Blizzard Beach, and its a great way to end a relaxing day at the water parks. SImilarly, Fantasia Gardens mini golf is located opposite the entrance to the Swan Hotel, close to Boardwalk. A late afternoon game here before a meal and enterainemnt at Boardwalk is another perfect way to take a break from Theme Park action.
Something many don’t know you can do at Walt Disney World is go fishing. Something many people do to unwind, various fishing options are available on-property throughout Walt Disney World. From old-fashioned cane pole fishing at Port Oreland to catch-and-release excursions on various Disney lakes, there are plenty of options. While some of these fishing activites require reservations, there are some you can walk-up to.
One thing many people overlook at Walt Disney World are the backstage tours. There are a range of various tours throughout the 4 Walt Disney World Parks. While most require a premium ticket, there are so many different options to choose from. Learn about the history of Magic Kingdom, get up close to the animals in Animal Kingdom, or stroll though the greenhouses in Epcot.. With so many options to choose from, there is something for everyone. A backsatge tour would make the perfect celebration gift or premium treat during your trip.
