Chef Mickeys is a Character Buffet Restaurant located in the middle of the Contemporary Resort. Open for breakfast and dinner, you can enjoy your meal while getting the opportunity to meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy.
Chef Mickeys has become a family tradition for us since our 2013 trip. We make a reservation for breakfast for the first morning after we arrive. Typically the earliest seating we can get, we enjoy breakfast with our favourite characters before heading into Magic Kingdom. I now can’t think of a better way to begin our Disney World Holidays!
Getting to meet some favourite disney characters should be incentive enough to put Chef Mickeys on your list. However, the variety on offer at the breakfast buffet means that there is something to cater to everyones tastes. Cereals, pastries, a pancake bar, fruit plattters, deli meats and a selection of hot foods (inclding Mickey Waffles!). I’ve always found our breakfasts here to be tasty. It’s not fine dining, but it’s filling and hearty.
Both of our boys love having breakfast at Chef Mickeys. You can be sure to find something any child will eat, and it’s a great way to meet these character favourites without using a fastpass+, or standing in a long queue. I also love that it is a buffet. While buffets are not to everyone’s liking, the relaxing atmosphere is creates is perfect for dining with young children. It is also a great novely to watch the monorail glide through the middle of the Resort on its way to Magic Kingdom
Chef Mickeys at Disney’s Contemporary Resort – Summary
We have experienced breakfast at Chef Mickeys on four trips now: 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. While we try to experience new and different restaurants each holiday, we just can’t help but book Chef Mickeys again and again. The food is good, and the relaxed family atmosphere makes for an easy breakfast before heading into the parks. While we have never had dinner at Chef Mickeys, I would definitely recommend a breakfast reservation.
Booking breakfast here will also allow you to enjoy the Contemporary Resort. The shopping here is great, and it is a thrill to watch the monorail as you dine. However, remember that Chef Mickeys is a table service buffet and therefore requires a reservation. ADRs can be made from 180 days before you trip, and given the popularity of this restaurant, I highly recommend getting your reservation as soon as possible!
