If you love Walt Disney World then your ultimate trip includes staying in one of their Resort Hotels. With over 20 different hotels to choose from, it can be difficult to choose your favourite resort. While the Resort you choose to stay at may be decided by a number of different factors, a short look around the different hotels during your trip will have you picking out your favourite resort in no time!
We’ve now taken a number of Disney World Holidays, and one of my favourite things to do is visit the Resort Hotels. Because of this, I don’t have one favourite resort. Here are my favourites, and why!
Polynesian Village Resort
We’ve not yet stayed at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, but it still a favourite of mine! I fell in love with the Polynesian from I first stepped inside for a restaurant reservation back in 2010. Only a monorail ride away from Magic Kingdom, the castle is visible from various places throughout the resort. It also boasts a number of amazing dining options (I love Kona Cafe!), a fantastic resort pool and one of the most popular lounges on property (Trader Sam’s)
The relaxed polynesian style is something that really appeals to me, which is why this Resort is one I hope I get the chance to stay at one day. With the added bonus of some beautiful beaches with a front row view of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom, I can’t think of a more perfect place to stay. My ultiamte dream is to be able to stay in one of the amazing Bora Bora Bungalows, on the edge of Seven Seas Lagoon.
Animal Kingdom Lodge
Our ‘home’ Resort for our 2010 trip, Animal Kingdom Lodge is truly spectacular. The architecure of the building itself is stunning, and the wealth of African artifacts displayed is fascinating. You could spend days exploring the resort alone! However, what I really fell in love with is the view of the animals on the savannahs which surround this resort. The cast members on hand with knowledge and experience of the animals is also wonderful. If you can, try to book a Savannah View Room here – being able to watch the animals from your own balcony is a real treat!
For a long time, this was my stand-out favourite resort. The food options here are delcious, and I would highly recommend a reservation at either Jiko or Boma. The pool area is also large, and there is the added bonus of a massage & fitness centre. While the most frquent complaint about Animal Kingdom Lodge is how isolated is can seem from the rest of Disney, it didnt seem that far away to me. And to this day, walking back into the lobby here still feels like coming home!
My current favourite resort is most definitley Beach Club, our home resort for our 2016 trip. Before this holiday, I was exctied to stay here given its prime location so close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. However, I was bowled over by just how convenient Beach Club is! With its proximity not only to the Theme Parks, but also to the wealth of activites and amenities at Boarkwalk, it was a wonderful place to stay. The Resort pool is another huge bonus – a lazy river, sand bottom and large pirate ship slide make this the best Resort pool area on property!
Beach Club shares its amenities with its sister Resort, Yacht Club, giving you easy access to twice the amount of services and amenties. However, the main reason why this is my current favourite resort is the scenery. Crescent Lake (home to Beach Club, Yacht Club and Boardwalk) is beautiful. I loved nothing more than getting up to walk from Beach Club round to Boardwalk Bakery for Breakfast as the sun was rising. It was a wonderfully relaxing and peacful start to the day – something that not a lot of people would say about a Disney World holiday!
I’m sure as time goes on my favourite resort at Walt Disney World will change over and over. Maybe once I stay at a new resort and allow myslef to explore it fully I will change my mind again. For now though, I would choose to go back to Beach Club again and again. Unless, of course, I have the opportunity to stay at the Polynesian Village!
