There is nothing quite as magical as a Walt Disney World Holiday. Really, the only negative is that at some stage your holiday has to end and you have to go home! The sadness you feel at the lack of hidden mickeys, your door not magically opening at the touch of a magic band and when no one wishes you a magical day is jokingly referred to as ‘PDD'(Post Disney Depression). However, there are a number of ways to avoid PDD. Here are some of my favourite methods here!
Recreate the Food
You miss the mouse ears. Mickey Shaped Waffles. Mickey Pretzels. Even your pancakes are served to look like Mickey Mouse! Thankfully, this is an easy thing to recreate at home to banish the PDD. From the wealth of kitchen merchandise sold in Walt Disney World to bits and pieces you can pick up at home, it can be simple to have some food fun and Disney-Theme your meals. Bring home some wonderful Disney World Cookbooks and have a go at recreating meals from your favourite restaruants.
Alternatively, invest in some Disney Themed Cookie cutters. Not just for baking, you can use these to shape sandwiches, fruit or cooked meats for a fun picnic lunch. My boys just love mickey mouse shaped sandwiches! However, if you really want to make your home a House of Mouse, you can even purchase your own disney-themed waffle makers or toasters, which are bound to add a little magic to your day!
Bring home your own Hidden Mickeys
You can create your very own Hidden Mickeys in your home, which is the perfect way to keep PDD from hitting too hard! Tasteful homewares which are Disney themed are incredivly easy to find. Picture frames are the perfect way to display your holiday photos, and some Disney throws or blankets you can store and pull out on chilly nights are the perfect comfort item.
Similarly, you can also invest in some Disney themed Mugs or Cups, or even some mouse-eared kitchen utensils! My personal favourite Hidden Mickeys is my Disney jewellery. From simple watches, braclets and earrings to pandora charms and branded collaborations, you can add a small Disney reminder to help keep the PDD at bay. There are also a number of brands, such as Ktich Kidson, Kate Spade, Dooley & Burke etc…who do some amazing collaborations with Disney, giving you the perfect Disney accessory!
Book Another Trip!
The best, most exciting way to banish PDD is to simply book your next Walt Disney World Holiday! Nothing beats post holiday blues like coming home and diving straight into planning your next trip. However, you may find you miss out on speical offers by jumping straight into booking again. You will probably want to wait a little while after returning before booking again, espeically if you want to take advantage of a Free Dining offer!
What you can do, however, is begin to plan! Research hotels and restaurants and check out some hints and tips to ensure your next Disney trip is even better than your last one! Once you have booked, an exciting way to keep some magic going at home is to start your own coundown calendar. While you can buy one, it can be a fun activity to create your own, especially if you can get your kids involved!
