Magic Kingdom, the most popular of Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, features a fireworks spectacular every evening. Many thousands of visitors enjoy the view of Wishes from Main Street USA and around the base of the castle at Magic Kingdom, making the area very busy during the evening – plus it can take some jostling to get a good viewing spot amongst all those crowds. If you are looking for a more relaxed view of Wishes, there are a number of places outside of Magic Kingdom which offer stunning views of the display, without the business of the theme park.
These spots are particularly good for your arrival night if don’t want to start using your park ticket until your first full day. They allow you a glimpse of the magic you’ll be experiencing for the rest of your holiday whilst still preserving your ticket for its fullest use possible
Narcoossee’s at Grand Floridian
Narcoossee’s is one of the signature restaurants at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. This restaurant floats over the Seven Seas Lagoon, overlooking the castle at Magic Kingdom. When making a reservation here, or upon arrival at the restaurant, you can request to be seated at a window overlooking the castle. Depending upon availability, you can enjoy a few of the fireworks over dinner. When Wishes begins, the lighting in the restaurant dims and the music from Magic Kingdom filters through so you enjoy the full effect of the fireworks display.
Alternatively, there is also a small viewing deck around the outside of Narcoossee’s which can be used for another great view. This is a handy spot if you have either finished your meal or are still waiting for your table; or you didn’t get a direct window seat and simply want a better view!
California Grill at Contemporary Resort
Like Narcoossee’s, the California Grill is another signature restaurant. Located on the roof of the Contemporary Resort, this restaurant is a popular, lively location offering excellent food, and a superb view overlooking the Magic Kingdom theme park. Nearly every table in the California Grill offers a wonderful view of Magic Kingdom and Wishes, but you can still request a table closest to the panoramic windows – they will try to accommodate every request, but this can’t always be guaranteed.
California Grill also leads to an outdoor viewing area which offers spectacular views of the Fireworks. You can use this observation deck before of after you meal, or if you are using their lounge, and views of Wishes from here are just as good as in the main restaurant.
The Beach at The Polynesian Village Resort
The beach at the Polynesian Resort on the fringe of the Seven Seas Lagoon overlooks the castle at Magic Kingdom directly. This is a fantastic location, particularly beneficial to those guests dining or staying at the Polynesian Resort. You can take your pick of the deck chairs or huddle up on a blanket on the sand by Seven Seas lagoon to watch Wishes, making this one of the most relaxing and romantic alternative viewing spots. Have dinner in one of The Polynesian Village Resort’s delicious restaurants and head to the beach afterwards for a truly special end to your evening.
A Room with a View
If you have already decided to stay in a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, but haven’t yet booked, you could consider booking a room which will have a nightly view of Wishes! The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, The Polynesian Village Resort and The Contemporary Resort (including Bay Lake Tower) all have rooms which overlook the Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom. These rooms have a premium price tag so be sure to check your budget allows (and that there’s availability for your travel dates!). If these rooms are too costly to stay in for your entire holiday, consider looking into booking them for a night at the beginning or end of your trip. This allows you to explore one of these incredible Resorts and lets you indulge in watching Wishes from your bed, without the heavy price tag of a full holiday stay.
Some rooms at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort can also offer a partial glimpse of Wishes, without the price tag of a full Seven Seas Lagoon View Room. While you can’t be guaranteed you’ll get this view from your Wilderness Lodge room, you can always request this upon booking this Resort; it could be a little added bonus & magic you weren’t initially counting on
