A holiday to Walt Disney World Resort has never been more affordable, but for many it can still be a trip priced at the upper end of holiday budgets. This makes many families wary of spending their hard earned money on anything else other than the souvenirs they can bring home with them; with so much money already spent on Theme Park Tickets it is hard to justify spending more money on premium services and attractions. However, some of the experiences in Walt Disney World which you have to pay extra for (‘premium services’) are so incredible that they are worth considering splashing out on; you may loose a little spending money but you’ll gain some unforgettable memories and experience some little luxuries that quite often you don’t get the chance to otherwise.
We have been fortunate to have experienced a number of premium services during our trips to Walt Disney World and out of all these experiences, there are a few we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others. Here are the Top 5 Premium Services that you should really consider splashing out on while on your Disney World holiday.
Referred to as Beachcomber Shacks in Typhoon Lagoon and Polar Patios at Blizzard Beach, these premium rental spaces offer reserved luxury seating, towel hire, bottled water, refillable mugs and your very own attendant for the day. While costly, we love treating ourselves to a cabana for the ultimate relaxation day. With reserved, comfy padded loungers the luxury of this premium space is well worth every penny. You can hire Cabanas at either water park for either a half day or a full day, and there are cheaper rates for hiring one in low season. These premium rental spaces can be booked up to 180 days in advance, and payment in full is required at the time of booking.
Some people love it and some hate it, but we found Valet Parking at the Deluxe Resorts a very handy convenience on occasion. While we don’t use Valet Parking regularly, it is worth every penny on the occasions we dined at a Signature Restaurant; with these experiences requiring a dress code, Valet parking saved my poor feet in dressy shoes from having to walk across a car park! While this may seem the height of laziness to many, I would still recommend Valet Parking if you have booked a Signature dinner, particularly if you a celebrating a special occasion. At $25 per day (remember this excludes the tip for the driver!) this premium service is not hugely overpriced and is certainly something to consider if circumstances are right.
Walt Disney World offers special ‘hard-ticket’ events in the Theme Parks, most notable Mickeys Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom. While these premium priced events come with an extra price tag, many people will agree that they are more than worth the extra cost for the experience of the event. These two Magic Kingdom events in particular come with special character meet-and-greets, free snacks, special live shows and Special Event Fireworks Displays. If your trip to Walt Disney World coincides with one of these events, I would really recommend looking into booking tickets as they truly are unforgettable experiences.
Water Craft Rental
Another favourite of ours, you are able to rent out watercraft from Downtown Disney (soon to be Disney Springs) and select Walt Disney World Resorts. Prices vary for watercraft depending on which type you decide to hire, but we find hiring a boat for an hour our two is the perfect way to relax and unwind when taking some time out from the Theme Parks. If water isn’t your thing, certain Resorts also offer Surrey Bike hire, which is also great fun and an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon away from the action of the parks. These premium rental services are perfect activities for families and larger groups and are suitable for all ages, making them well worth the extra hire fee for an hour or two.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique/Pirates League
This premium service is centred around children, and children just love these experiences. Your little princess and pirate can enjoy these fully themed services, where they can experience being dressed up like a pirate, mermaid, prince or princess. Again, prices for this experience vary depending on how much you want to spend (and if you want to include buying a full costume), but every kid I’ve seen enjoy this experience (including my sons) have truly loved very single minute of it. For anyone brining any children over the age of 3, this is one experience I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend saving up the extra cash and booking this experience; it will provide you with some unforgettable magic and memories.
