With all Walt Disney World Resort Hotels, location is one of the prime reasons for their popularity. Being close to all the Theme Park action is one of the big perks of choosing a Disney Hotel. This is particularly true if you choose one in the Magic Kingdom or Epcot Resort Areas, where you are walking distance from the Parks. Personally, I love World Showcase in Epcot, so my favourite Walt Disney World Resort Area has to be the Epcot Resort Area, more specifically, the hotels located around Crescent Lake at Boardwalk.
While there are many reasons as to why this is my favourite Resort Area, there are a few huge benefits to anyone who choses to stay in an Epcot Resort Area Hotel, especially Boardwalk or Yacht & Beach Club Resorts or Swan & Dolphin Hotels.
A Huge benefit for the Hotels situated around Crescent Lake is their location. You are just a short walk into Epcot, and you can even walk to Hollywood Studios (it’s about a mile, dependant on your Resort). Boat transport is also available to these Theme Parks, which can be a very pleasant journey around a beautiful area. Having two of Walt Disney Worlds Theme Parks on your doorstep lends huge appeal to the Epcot Resort Area. Similarly, Magic Kingdom is only a stroll through Epcot and a monorail away; whilst not right on your doorstep, it is a lovely way to travel to Magic Kingdom if you’re not in a hurry!
All the Hotels around Crescent Lake in the Epcot Resort Area are classed by Disney as “Deluxe Resorts” and as such have a lot of extra amenities and activities available to guests. Whilst Resort pools are for the exclusive use of guests at that hotel, all other amenities are open to everyone. This puts these Epcot Resort Area Hotels at a huge advantage compared to others as with 5 different Deluxe Resorts all within walking distance of each other, you have a wealth of amenities and recreational activities at your fingertips. Around Crescent Lake you can choose to hire out a boat, bike or surrey bike, use the massage or salon at the Yacht & Beach club, or relax on one of the lake’s beaches.
Choice of Restaurants
As above, the close location of a number of large, Deluxe Resorts allows you easy access to a wealth of delicious restaurants. Around Crescent Lake, you’ll never be stuck for dining options; from a bakery and quick service locations right through to signature restaurants, there is something to suit every palette (and budget!) within walking distance. With all these dining options on the doorstep of your hotel, the Epcot Resort Area is particularly beneficial to adults, who can enjoy a drink with their dinner and not have to worry about driving!
With 5 Hotels all located around Crescent Lake, you’ll be presented with some stunning views. The scenery around Boardwalk and the lake is beautiful in itself, with panoramic views of Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Club and The Swan & Dolphin Hotels. However, you’ll also be treated to glimpses of the Epcot Ball, Spaceship Earth and of Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios, where in the evening you’ll also be treated to the fireworks displays (Illuminations at Epcot & currently Star Wars at Hollywood Studios). Whilst different areas around the lake will provide differing views of these displays, you may even been lucky enough to see some of the fireworks from your room!
Another added perk for those staying around the Epcot Resort Area is the nightly entertainment which takes place around Boardwalk – an area of shops and dining just outside BoardWalk Inn & Villas. From magicians to mimes, these street performers are fantastic, and an evening strolling around Crescent Lake watching them is a brilliant change of pace from the action of the Theme Parks.
From its convenience of location to the amount of entertainment, recreation and dining options available, the Epcot Resort Area is a favourite of many Walt Disney World visitors. In reality, you could spend a week around Crescent Lake without ever entering a Theme Park and still have a wonderful holiday! But without a doubt, this Resort Area is a favourite for many due to its proximity to the Theme Parks; you really can’t stay much closer to the action!
